A young girl from Brazil has died after a garden pillar suddenly collapsed on top of her while she was playing in a hammock.
Maria Luiza Lopes Hupp was reportedly swinging in her hammock in her home in the municipality of Uniao do Sul, Mato Grosso State, Brazil, when the pillar crushed her.
After hearing the loud bang, her family rushed to help and immediately rushed the four-year-old to the hospital after they realised she was still alive.
Brazil's Civil Police said the hospital's emergency unit called them around 5.45pm on Wednesday, 31st May, to report on the case.
They reportedly told the cops that the little girl was brought to the facility with a serious head injury and very little chance of survival.
When questioned, the girl's mum told police officers that the child was accompanied by her nanny when the incident happened.
Four-year-old Maria died shortly after she was admitted to hospital and her body was admitted for an autopsy later that day.
It was not disclosed what caused the pillar to collapse.
Civil Police said investigations are ongoing.

James Douglas, a property developer, arrived back from work and climbed into the hammock at the home in Sunderland.
But by 5.30pm, his family had called the emergency services after the garden pillar, which had been standing for 15 years, fell on top of him.
An air ambulance attended along with the North East Ambulance Service and the fire service, but James was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The 28-year-old had been due to head to the stables that evening with his girlfriend of 10 years, where they had horses when the tragedy struck.
